BEGIN the 2007 LOG!

03.04  Sunday  March 4, 2007:   First organized activity of the new year.   Weather reports expect slight possibility of rain or snow.   Pickup trucks and their trailers began arriving a few minutes before 7:00 am.   It doesn't look like a big money race today.    Racing engines started at 11:35 am.   A few snowflakes at noon.   Temperature 34 F.   Although there were racers still on the track, a few  vehicles began leaving before 5:00 pm.  Almost all were gone by 5:20 pm.  At 6:01 pm one pickup truck came down the hill, and passed one lone car which came up the hill.  The car  paused a moment at the house, and then continued around the house and down the hill.  All in all this appeared to be an uneventful racing day.

03.27  Tuesday  March 27, 2007:   Here's some notes made as the vehicles were coming down the hill and leaving by the main gate:  4:40 pm a Pick-Up and a Closed Van.  4:50 pm White SUV with a closed trailer.  5:18 pm a Red Pick-Up.  Today was an informal day.

03.28   Wednesday  March 28, 2007:   More notes on the comings and goings at the Dublin Gap Motorcycle Race Track.   09:00 am Large Motor Home type vehicle departed.  It was there all night.  Later in the afternoon:  6:25 pm White Van and a Pick-Up with trailer departed.  6:27 pm one Pick-Up with a trailer came down the hill.  6:30 pm two Pick-Ups came down the hill and out the gate.  One was white.  6:35 pm two Pick-Ups departed.  One towed a trailer.  6:38 two white Pick-Ups departed.  6:39 pm another white Pick-Up left.  6:43 two Pick-Ups came down the hill, one was towing a very large trailer.  6:50 pm a Pick-Up came down the hill.  6:55 pm another Pick-Up left.  6:57 pm a White Closed Van departed.  7:02 pm two Pick-Ups departed.  One was white.  7:05 another Pick-Up left.  7:10 pm  the track operators are using a John Deere 4-wheeler to inspect the track.  A kid on a mini-bike was with them.  7:14 pm a Pick-Up with a very large trailer departed.  7:20 pm that kid with the mini-bike is going around the track.  7:22 a SUV left.  Today was a low money "Just for Fun" day.

03.29  Thursday  March 29, 2007:   At 10:10 am two very large articulated motor homes, looked like they were both the same model, came down the hill.  They had camped there Tuesday night.  Rain forecast today, the track is muddy.  Maybe no racing.   About 6:15 pm in the evening a Motor Home towing a red trailer arrived.  Then, after an hour of  moving vehicles about on the top of the hill, one very large Motor Home departed.  After that, don't know why the relocation of vehicles continued until well after midnight.    Looked like they were moving campers from the back lot  into the front lot where the entrance gate is located.

03.30  Friday  March 30, 2007:    At 8:00 am a very large articulated Motor Home went up the hill.   This is supposed to be a "Practice Day", but it's well organized.  They're running 16 bikes per race.   The vehicles began leaving at about 3:00 pm, and were mostly out by 5:45 pm.  There's a couple of large vehicles, looks like they are 18-wheelers, staying over.  They may be seller's setups.

03.31   Saturday  March 31, 2007:   Big money racing day.  Both lots are nearly full.  Hardly any pick-up trucks.  Actually, not a great number of races.  Noise as usual.  About 9:30 pm in the evening a large 18-wheeler arrived.  There was a lot of coming and going of large vehicles until late at night.

04.01   Sunday  April 1, 2007:    Big money day again.   An  ambulance came and was there for a while.  It just now departed at 12:33 pm.  There's a dozen or so kids going around the track.   All in all it's been a uneventful day over there.  Then, at 12:55 pm the big bikes began racing.   Big noise.   Weather:  Overcast, temperature below normal.  Vehicles began leaving at about 6:00 pm, and this side of the hill was cleared by 7:15 pm.   Race Track Management always cleans up the place and collects all the trash cans even if it's getting late.

04.02   Monday  April 2, 2007:   Very early in the morning before daybreak a large Motor Home with its lights on was sitting on top of the hill by the house.  It sat there until 6:45 am when it finally departed.  Don't know what it was doing there, or what it was waiting for.

04.11   Wednesday   April 11, 2007:   Three experienced racers and a few others using the track.  Obvious difference in speed and jumps.  There is almost a noticeable drizzle.   No wind, and it's cold.  By about 5:50 pm all the racers except two had departed.  These two ran until dark.  There were five pick-up's, one of which was white.

04.14   Saturday   April 14, 2007:    A few pick-up's with trailers began arriving about 8:00 am.  Racing ended at about 3:00 pm today.  That's early for them.  Weather was acceptable.

04.18   Wednesday   April 18, 2007:    A few bikes running around the track today.  At about 4:15 pm two EMS  ambulances with their flashing lights were seen leaving the property.  The  ambulances were followed by one SUV.   Six racers restarted the activities at 4:35 pm.  There were different skill levels.  Some fast, some slow.  By 6:35 pm it was down to 2 bikes.  A white pick-up left at 6:45 pm.    From then until 7:00 pm only one bike was running, and it was just playing around.  Taking short-cuts and going around the course in the reverse direction.  Maybe some kid.  Something not seen much; a car pulling a medium size trailer.  Red car.   Then, last to leave, a pick-up or an SUV came down the hill.  Weather:  good, mix of sun and overcast.

04.19   Thursday   April 19, 2007:   At 7:57 am in the morning a very small pick-up truck towing a very large motor home trailer came down the hill and departed.   That was unusual because the truck was so small, and the motor home so large, they would never be safe on the open road.  Maybe they hadn't planned to go very far.

04.21   Saturday   April 21, 2007:    A mixed group of bikers were using the track today.  It kicked off at 09:00 am, and continued until about 4:30 pm.  There were some small bikes, and there were a bunch of very large bikes that appear to run without their mufflers.  Maybe more power (?).  The noise from these big bikes is much more than what it would be on a regular racing day.

04.28   Saturday   April 28, 2007:   Some comings and goings.  7:38 am:  Large motor home towing a large trailer just arrived.   1:50 pm:  White pick-up arrived.  There are five or six bikes running now.  All different sizes.  2:10 pm:  One pick-up departed.  Three large bikes, 2 medium bikes, and a couple kiddie bikes, at the moment.   2:17:  Pick-up with a white trailer departed.  It's overcast with a heavy mist, but no rain drops.   2:27:  A white pick-up with a large trailer arrived.  Also a SUV a few minutes later.  3:00 pm:  A white pick-up left.   3:20 pm:  About ten or twelve bikes running now.  Still no rain drops.  4:05 pm:  A second pick-up with a white trailer departed.  A few minutes later another pick-up left.  4:30 pm:  Activity is about ended.  The track operators are inspecting the track.

05.01   Tuesday   May 1, 2007:   Three or four medium bikes running most of the day.  Some pick-up's left about 3:15 pm.  Two smaller bikes ran until after dark.  The water wagon brought a load of water.

05.02   Wednesday   May 2, 2007:   There were at least 21 riders having their fun today.  Some bikes were very large, but most were smaller.  Here is a partial list of vehicle activity:    7:04 pm:  A very large motor home arrived.   7:06 pm:  White van departed.    7:07 pm:  Red car departed.    7:09 pm:  White pick-up departed.    7:23 pm:  Pick-up with a white trailer departed.    7:26 pm:  Pick-up departed.    7:32 pm:  Large white straight truck left.    7:34 pm:  Pick-up with trailer came down the hill.   7:49 pm:  Pick-up departed.    7:56 pm:  Two pick-up's departed.    7:57 pm:  A pick-up with a dark trailer left.   7:58 pm:  The pick-up and trailer that arrived at 7:34 pm just departed.  They didn't stay very long.    7:59 pm:  White pick-up left.    8:03 pm:  Pick-up with white trailer left.    The last bike to go around the track, and thus the end of the neighborhood noise, was at 7:20 pm.

05.03    Thursday    May 3, 2007:   For the first time that its been noticed, there are bikes running on the new "Practice Track".   This area is northeast of the old track, and not visible from the main entrance gate.  Pick-up's and trailers were going up the hill earlier in the day, and now we know where they went.  Last noise at 8:10 pm.  Last pick-up departed 8:20 pm.

05.05    Saturday    May 5, 2007:     Miscellaneous Notes:   7:34 am:  Pick-up with trailer arrived.   8:16 am:  One car departed.   8:27 am:  Pick-up arrived.   10:15 am:  There are bikes running on both the old and the new tracks.  Only two on the old track, can't see what's on the new track.

05.06    Sunday    May 6, 2007:    Some bikes are using the old track today.  Lot of noise.  Everything ended by 4:00 pm.   Some notes:  8:09 am:  Water Truck went up the hill.  8:24 am:  Water Truck came back down the hill.   8:32 am:  White pick-up departed.   8:42 am:  Water Truck came down the hill (?).    3:15 pm: Large motor home arrived.   4:00 pm:  Mostly ended for the day.   Don't know where the large motor home went.

05.12   Saturday   May 12, 2007:   Very light motorcycle race track activity today, just a few pick-ups, and they started leaving at 3:15 pm.  Weather OK except for a heavy thunderstorm at about 4:30 pm.  There were a couple of carpenters (?) banging on nails (?) all yesterday afternoon and until late evening.

05.13   Sunday   May 13, 2007
:    Mothers Day.  Not a large crowd.  Quiet a few kiddie bikes running most of the day, and some regular very large bikes.  Everyone was out by 6:00 pm.  Weather was very good.

05.23   Wednesday   May 23:   Following is part of a conversation overheard a few days ago at the front door of a local resident's home in Hopewell Township, a resident who is familiar with the race track issues:

Resident:  "Good afternoon."
Visitor:      "I'm the Manager of the Motocross, and I'd like to ask some questions
because we want to be good neighbors."
Resident:  "I'm not going to answer any questions."
Visitor, speaking, while writing on a pad:  "Refused To Answer."
Resident:  "I Declined to Answer."
Visitor, still writing:  "Refused To Answer."
Resident:  "Well, you could start by admitting that you are not Grandfathered."
Visitor:      "We won't go into that, I'm the one asking the questions"
Resident:  "Goodby."

06.02   Saturday   June 2, 2007:   (more later)

06.03   Sunday   June 3, 2007:   Today was the first real motorcycle race they've held in a while.  It was not a big money race.  Mostly pick-up trucks with trailers.  A few small motor homes.  They have some big noisy bikes there today.  Weather was good up until mid-afternoon, then drizzle started.  And then light rain.  A lot of people began leaving at 4:15 pm, and more were leaving at 5:00 pm, but all were out of there by 6:00 pm.   It was wet and muddy after 5:00 pm.

Wait for more copy...

08.18   Saturday & Sunday   August 18 and 19:     This was a big money race.  Not many motor home campers, but the ones that came were the large expensive ones.   Nothing like pick-up trucks and trailers.  Almost all came in on Friday evening, and stayed through Sunday evening when racing was finished.  Not very many races run, and lots of time between races.   The noise they make is much less than that made by the weekday casual riders.  Most of those guys don't use mufflers.   And they run continuously until dark.    Races ended fairly early today,  maybe about 3:00 pm.
